A bûche de noël is a traditional French dessert served after the main Christmas dinner as dessert. It is typically a sponge cake rolled to be the shape of a log. The dessert is covered in chocolate in a design to resemble the bark on a tree. A bûche de noël is the symbol of a burning yule log.
I am a regular at La Fournette and I love their croissants and breads. Luke and the whole family are always the nicest and greet me with a "Bonjour" every time I walk in. When I asked them about their Bûche de Noël they were kind enough to make one just for me way ahead of December. I ended up sharing it with the families at Ronald McDonald House on a recent volunteer night. The families loved it and it went very quickly. I didn't get a chance to taste it but I heard all great things.
The price is $34.80 (serves 6/8) There are three flavors: vanille, silk vanilla buttercream rolled with a tender sponge cake, noisette, carmelized hazelnut buttercream, with a moist vanilla sponge cake and Chocolat (the one featured) with chocolate buttercream, moist chocolate sponge cake, and chocolate decorations.
Make sure to place your order with them before December 21st 1547 N Wells Street 312-624-9430
