A Year in Paris

a year in paris by rebecca plotnick

A Year in Paris is a visual journey of Paris through the seasons. From the bare trees of Winter, Spring in bloom, picnics by the Seine in Summer, and the colors of the leaves in the Fall. While most people visit Paris in one season or maybe two, I have always wanted a way to share photographs of the city from every season in one complete book.

I have been working on this idea since 2014. After spending four months in Paris in 2013. In one year, I had been through almost all of the seasons. In my head it was “Paris Through the Seasons” until one day I was sitting with my friend Meghann over dinner and I explained it as “A Year in Paris,” I quickly pulled up GoDaddy to see if the domain was available and bought it on the spot.

If you have been following for a while, you know that a book idea has been on mind. It is my one big career goal. Yes, I know this doesn’t always equal a big paycheck. I don’t think it has to do anything with that. I have been dreaming of my own book since I used to sleep in my Grandma’s library when I was a kid. I would pull every art book I could find off the shelves and flip through for hours. The book will be dedicated to my Grandma for so many reasons.

I should explain that there are two main parts of the book that are missing. I am always gone from Paris in Summer since I have Summer shows in Chicago and Christmas I have always been committed to One of a Kind. This is really an idea I want to see through, so in 2019 I plan on visiting Paris on a different schedule than normal. This will be an opportunity where I can experience something new and different in Paris.

I don’t have a publisher for the book just yet but, I plan on working on this in hopes that it will one day be published. If you are anyone you know is a publisher that might have interest in this project, please let me know!

I have been collecting images of Paris from Winter, Spring, and Fall since 2013 and I am ready to start putting the pieces together to create my dream book!

This is where you all can take part in the journey. I am starting a print series to go along with the book idea. You can purchase a print to be delivered per month or per season in 2019. Some of the images have already been shot and sit in my archives and some will happen in Summer and Holiday of 2019.

I am offering two sizes with each Print Series

5×7 prints 4 Seasons for $60 or A Year in Paris for $180.

8×10 prints 4 Seasons for $120 or A Year in Paris for $360

With each photograph, I will be sending the story behind the print and information about the neighborhood. My favorite places to explore nearby including food, drinks, shopping, and walks.

All of my trips to Paris are fully funded by me so this is a great opportunity to support me, the blog and the book.

I have been photographing Paris since 2010 on my first solo trip and the blog will turn 3 in 2019. This journey has been challenging, rewarding, and so much fun. I can’t wait to see where this project goes over the next year.

Thank you in advance for your support! I can’t wait to see A Year in Paris come to life!
